Blogging the Big Idea
Good morning. Earlier this week I either laid on my heart or had it laid on my heart to publish something called “The Big Idea” by the end of the year. This is not very long, but I have been working on this idea for a long period of time. In a nutshell, the idea is that the Church should unite, fulfill the Great Commission, and doing this will initiate the Second Coming of Christ (a mountain of verses to come later, but in the meantime, feel free to check out Matthew 24:14, 28:19-20, and Acts 2:42-47).
That is a “big” idea, is it not?
So, after watching “Julie and Julia” with Jessica this past weekend, I had the idea also to blog as I created this idea and put it into writing. I’ve been working on this idea for about four days of this week. Much research and formulated thoughts will go into creating something like this. Much of it is already there as I’ve had the idea for years now; it is simply a matter of taking the puzzle pieces I’ve discovered, some I’ve created, some I’ve yet to find, and put them all there while listening to the promptings of the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 30:21).
Today’s Update
Today I finished reading John 17 but in the ESV Study Bible. A passage of commentary that really stands out is on John 17:20-26 which says, “The vision of a unified people of God has previously been expressed in 10:16 and 11:52. Believers’ unity results from being united in God (cf. 10:38; 14:10-11, 20, 23; 15:4-5). Once unified, they will be able to bear witness to the true identify of Jesus as the Sent One of God.” (1) This is direct commentary that claims that it will be through our unification as the church and our own unification with God which will allow for us to fulfill the Great Commission. Great tidbit of information.
What’s funny is that God led my buddy Garrett to tell me of the depth of the commentary had in the ESV Study Bible for John 17 months ago. I have also recently heard from my other buddy Chuck at church that we know what we are doing has God’s stamp of approval when we have an ability for the task, an affinity for the task, and affirmation from others about the task. Ahh, good ol’ assonance and God using others to encourage and guide you!
Special thanks to Mrs. Fletcher for her encouragement.
Closing Thought
Well, this will be an interesting change in the blog to go from formal publications which I stew over but are not at the heart of what I want to write about, and transitioning the blog, at least in the meantime, towards quick updates towards a bigger project I have felt led to write about since nearly. Hope you stay interested, whoever may read this, and prayers on the success, or immediate failure be it not of God’s will, of this project are appreciated. Love you all and have a blessed day!
Lord, thank you for today. However you would chose to do this, please see that your Church be united and your Great Commission be fulfilled so that we can all know the intimacy of your love and to see, once and for all, the end of evil and all that which is outside your will. In Jesus’ name, by the power of the Holy Spirit I pray, amen.
